Rocke, Richard (1564-1620)
The son of Thomas Rocke, an important freeholder and glover of Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury. His father was part owner of the manor of the Abbey foregate which had been monastry land until dissolution. Richard married the daughter Thomas Hatton who had been a partner of his father's in the purchase of the manor. Richard Rocke served as juror and magistrate in Montgomeryshire in 1612 and 1613 respectively, and as sheriff in 1620. He died whilst holding the latter office and his shrievalty was completed by his son and heir, also called Richard Rocke.

Roger, Earl of Hereford (d.1155)
Son of Miles of Gloucester; he inherited the earldom on the death of his father. He initially opposed the rule of Henry II (acceded 1154) but was persuaded to submit made his peace at Easter 1155 (?). However, he died the same year and the lordship of Brecon passed to his brother Walter without the title. [G.R.]

Rowlins, Hugh (fl.1550)
Rector of Llangattock, 1550. A supporter of the English Reformation. In 1551 as Vicar of Tenby (Canon of Saint David's ) with Canon Thomas Lee, Rowlins presented 56 Articles of Accusation against his fellow reformer, Bishop Robert Ferrer.
